Walks in Somerset

A large selection of walk books and pamphlets detailing walks in our are area will be found in any local bookshop or Tourist Information Centre.

We hope to build up a database of walks we have used in recent programmes and to post them here on our website. They will be in the form of downloadable files from GPS recorded routes listed by place and distance.

To access them you will need to have a copy of the relevant TRACKLOG map. This commercial software can be ordered from their website

Long Distance Walks

On Ordance Survey maps paths marked with green diamonds are "recreational paths". They vary considerably in length but most require several days to walk.There is usually at least one book or pamphlet describing each route in detail and these can be bought at local Tourist Information Centres and bookshops.In addition there are websites containing information about most of them. Coleridge Way 36 miles Porlock to Nether Stowey Passes through landscape of Quantocks, Brendon Hills and Exmoor that inspired Coleridge.
