WALKS in NOVEMBER 2008

Sunday 2nd November          Moderate             12 miles           5 to 6 hours

Alternative walk:  Clevedon, Portishead, Clapton in Gordano, Cadbury Camp. Coast path to Portishead with mostly firm surfaces thereafter, so hopefully not too much mud if it is wet. Pub stop for a drink at Clapton in Gordano. Dogs allowed under control.

Meet: 09:30 at triangle just off B3124.  Take B3124 north out of Clevedon. Turn left just after the school which is on the left.  Follow the road for approx. 300m, turn left into The Avenue at Walton St Mary and park close to the triangle, opposite the access road to the golf club.  Grid ref: ST413727 Post code (for Sat Nav) BS21 7DZ

Sunday 9th November      Moderate/hard         13 miles           6 ½ hours

Axbridge and the Mendips. A local and varied Mendip walk with a couple of steep ascents, taking in Fry’s Hill and Cheddar.  Possibly very muddy. No dogs allowed.

Wednesday 19th November.     Easy/moderate.      5-6 miles.      3-4 hours

Mid Week Walk:  Winscombe and surrounding hills. An easy pace; please bring a picnic lunch.  Dogs allowed under control.
Meet:  11:30 Car park behind the Woodborough Inn, Winscombe.

Sunday 23rd November         Easy/Moderate            9 to 10 miles

A Mendip Meander. Meeting at Velvet Bottom and walking up over Beacon Batch etc., including some of the West Mendip Way. Familiar territory for Woodspring Ramblers but a pleasant walk on a winter’s day. Coffee and packed lunch stops. Anyone wishing to take a dog please check with the leader first.

Around Failand.

Meet: 10:00. The old magistrates’ court. Turn off A370 for Long Ashton and, at 2nd mini roundabout, turn sharp left and park near the old Magistrates Court. Grid ref: ST520696.  Picnic lunch.

Saturday 6th December

Special Event: Dunster by Candlelight.

An evening stroll through Dunster to see the village candlelit for Christmas. Visit the many shops and especially the Castle.

Meet at Homebase bus stop at 2pm for the coach to Minehead. There will be a ‘Relay’ bus to transport us from Minehead back to Dunster.

Return from Dunster approximately 9 pm via the ‘Relay’ bus to Minehead for the coach back to Worle.

Cost will be £10 for the coach plus £2.50p for the relay bus.
