Easy 5 miles Short First: Flax Bourton-outskirts of Tyntesfield-Truckle
Wood-Backwell Bow-Flax Bourton. Walking along a new cycle path, and appreciate
views of Tyntesfield. A delightful
walk through established woodland. A
gentle climb through Truckle Wood. An
easy pace is planned throughout with coffee stops, lunch break and plenty
of scope for further walking in the afternoon. No dogs allowed. Meet: 10:00 Roadside parking near to Flax Bourton
School (Station Road, Flax Bourton.) Please park sensitively and try

7th May. Easy/Moderate 4-5 miles 2 hours Sandford evening walks: This is the first of the season. A pleasant and friendly walk around the Sandford, Winscombe and Churchill
countryside on alternate Wednesday evenings through the Summer. Finish before dark, with a refreshing drink

O’ Bells, Compton Martin to Ring O’ Bells, Hinton Blewitt. This is the 6th and final leg of the Butcombe Brewery
walk. Via Prospect Stile, steep views, on to the King’s Arms (Litton)
for lunch then up over the Mendip Plateau to the Castle of Comfort and back down the hill
through East Harptree woods. Dogs allowed under control. Meet: 09:30. Car

Ubley, Burrington Ham, Rickford Fields
and Common land with stunning views from Blagdon and Rickford. One fairly long climb from Ubley before lunch.

miles 3½ and 7 hrs The
Somerset Coal Canal Part 1. A combined short and long walk for all to participate. Also the first of a 2 part walk along the route
of the Somerset Coal Canal, discovering the relics of a once bustling
industry. Through fields and
meadows and along country lanes with a couple of very easy climbs for
the short walk. The longer walk contains more hill walking. Pub
stops on both walks. Another
Coal Canal walk will be in the next programme. Meet: 09:30 Paulton Car Park (free parking). From A368, right onto A37. Left at traffic lights
onto A39. Follow signs to Paulton.
Go right onto the B3355 into Paulton then pass the pub on your left.
