WALKS in SEPTEMBER 2009

Sunday 6th September Easy     6 miles 3 ½ hours

Short First:- Pensford – Compton Dando. Mainly pasture land and part of the   ‘Two Rivers Way’.

Meet:- 11:00 in Pensford Village hall car park. Take the turning to Publow off the A37 just on south side of the bridge.  Then left into Publow Lane. Explorer 155 Grid ref: ST 620639

Sunday 6th September.                                                          Easy walking with low or short hills      10½ miles        6 hrs

Alternative walk:- Devizes, Wiltshire

Circular walk through fields and lanes to lunch (pub stop).  Return via Kennet and Avon Canal and up Caen hill flight of locks. Afternoon tea stop at the top.

Meet:- 10:00 at the Free car park in Devizes. Turn right off the A342 when entering Devizes by the Beer Brewers.  If further instructions are required please contact the walk leader.

No dogs allowed.

Sandford evening walk:- See 12th August for details. This may be the last evening walk of the season.

Sunday 13th September.

Special Event:- Joint Woodspring and Clevedon Ramblers Coach Trip to Exmoor and Lynmouth.  There will be two walks: One 7 mile moderate walk starting high on Cheriton Ridge and following the Two Moors Way, - across Exmoor, alongside Hoaroak Water, through Myrtleberry and Lyn Cleaves into Lynmouth.  The afternoon will be yours to spend as you like.  One 14 miles,  strenuous with infinite variety, walk From Hillsford Bridge, along Farley Water,  onto Tippacott Ridge to  Doone Valley and Malmsmead.  Topping off with a picturesque walk alongside the East Lyn River to Watersmeet and on into Lynmouth.  Price of coach trip will be £11 per person.  No dogs allowed.

Meet:- The coach will pick up at Clevedon at 08:00 then Worle Homebase bus stop New Bristol Road at 08:15

Departure time from  Lynmouth  1700 - ETA  back at base  1930

Wednesday 16th September        Easy/moderate.       5-6 miles.      3-4 hours

Mid Week Walk:- Winscombe and surrounding hills. An easy pace; please bring a picnic lunch.  Dogs allowed under control.
Meet:- 11:30 Car park behind the Woodborough Inn, Winscombe.

Sunday 20th September           Easy     9 ½ miles         5 hours

Frampton Cotterell, Iron Acton and Rangeworthy. A nice easy, flat walk through meadows and farms; along bridleways and quiet lanes, following parts of the Frome Valley Walkway.  Pub stop, or picnic adjacent the Church at Rangeworthy.  No dogs allowed.

Meet:- 10:00 Mill Lane opposite Church, Frampton Cotterell. Go along Church Road North Frampton Cotterell.
