Wednesday 1st August             Easy/Moderate  4 to 5 miles

Sandford evening walk.

A pleasant and friendly walk around the Sandford, Winscombe and Churchill countryside, on alternate Wednesday evenings through the summer. Finish the evening with a refreshing drink and a supper snack at the Railway Inn if you wish.

Short First:  Wedmore – Sand - Blackford

A walk around a ridge of hills takes in lovely views and ends near a spot where buried treasure was found.  Coffee and lunch stops

Chew Magna, Maes Knoll, Pensford, Hunstrete, Clutton, Knowle Hill.

Diverse hill and valley landscape with views over Chew Valley Lake.

No dogs allowed.

Wednesday 8th August             Easy           4 miles           1 ½ to 2 hours

Evening walk at Congresbury. 

Ancient woodland and along a riverbank.  One short steep ascent and one gentle descent.  Adjourn to the Ship and Castle afterwards for a meal and/or drinks.

Sunday 12 August           Easy        6 miles              2½ hours plus boat trip

Dulverton and Canal trip.

 Walk around Dulverton and along the river. One climb. Back to Tiverton for a 2½ hour horse drawn barge trip along the canal. Barge leaves at 2:30. Please let Mary know well in advance if you wish to come on the walk and Barge or just the Barge trip as 7 days prior booking is required.

Mid-week Walk.   Winscombe and surrounding hills. An easy pace; please bring a picnic lunch.  Dogs allowed under control.

Be entertained with the Mendip Morris Men.  

Come with Cliff for a short evening walk through Weston Woods then meet at The Captains Cabin at 9:00 pm to watch the Morris Men entertain you.

Dogs allowed under control.

Meet: - (for Walk) 6:45 at Madeira Cove car park, opposite Claremont Vaults near the boating lake.

Sunday 19th  August     Moderate           9 miles 

Blagdon Round. 

A meander from Blagdon via Redhill and back.  An undulating walk with some difficult stiles.  Could be muddy if wet. Good views of surrounding area if weather permits.  Picnic lunch.  No dogs allowed.

Meet: 10:00 Blagdon village car park and Fire station. Turn left on the right hand bend in Blagdon, signposted  ‘Pumping Station’, then left.  Grid Ref 501592

Evening walk Ebdon Arms to Middle Hope.

A leisurely walk from the Ebdon Arms pub, Worle across the levels to Middle Hope and back to the Ebdon for supper or a drink.

Sunday 26th August      Moderate           11 Miles                        6 Hours

Flax Bourton, Tyntesfield Estate, Down School.

Up and down but nothing too steep.  Fields, tracks, woods, quiet lanes.  Coffee stop in Tyntesfield estate. Lunch stop in Birchwood.

Dogs allowed under control.
