This is an early notice for everyone to put in your diary. The walks will follow the usual pattern of a short, easy/moderate walk of about 7 miles with possible visits to sites of interest. The longer, moderate/hard walk will be approximately 14 miles visiting Budleigh Salterton for lunch. Full details will be made available once the walks have been reconnoitred. The booking form will not be available until the next programme (mid-late March). In view of the short time between the next programme issue and the date of the trip, if you wish to reserve a seat on the coach send an email to woodspring.ramblers@tesco.net It is estimated the cost will be approximately £10 to £12 per person. Coach will depart from Worle bus stop, by Homebase, New Bristol Road, W-S-M.

Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd May 2010.Weekend walking along the Cotswold Way

This will be the first of a series of walks along the 100 mile route of the Cotswold Way from Chipping Campden to Bath. This first weekend will consist of three linear walks – one 8 miles on Friday and two 12 miles on Saturday and Sunday.  There will be additional smaller circular walks provided for anyone wishing to come along and participate in less strenuous distances. For members wishing to stay the weekend we will be based at Chipping Campden from where we will arrange car shuttles to and from the start of each linear walk.  Accommodation will be hotel or B&B. For a  newsletter, containing further information send an email to woodspring.ramblers@tesco.net.  Further events covering the complete Cotswold Way will take place during the following summer periods of 2011/12.

September  4th to 11th 2010 Dolgellau, Wales

We are planning a one-week holiday in the handsome, dark stoned market town of Dolgellau at the Southern end of Snowdonia. Set beneath Cadir Idris, the legendary ‘Chair of Idris’, Dolgellau is one of the handiest bases for exploring all the Snowdonia Mountains and Cardigan Bay Coastline. There are many local beauty spots, walks and cycle paths.  The programme we are planning will be based on a similar programme to the recent holiday in Keswick and will cover all levels of walking abilities. A programme of walks will be produced over the coming months. Sufficient details for each walk will be given to get you round the routes.

Mary has identified a suitable hotel in Dolgellau which will be able to accommodate quite a large number of people and has offered a reduced rate of £40.00 pppn for B&B or £50pppp for DB&B. This price will be irrespective of the number of nights you wish to stay, but will require a minimum of 25 persons staying at any time. This is ‘The Royal Ship Hotel’. It is a well known place for groups wishing to visit the area. For those wishing to stay with us at this hotel and would like further information, details can be found on the web at www.royalshiphotel.com.uk  Should you wish to stay in a standard B&B, you can find details from the Tourist Information Centre (TIC) in Dolgellau at tic.dolgellau@eryi-npa.gov.uk or on the web at www.dolgellau.net.  A short list of B&Bs is available from Di or me. Further details covering the programme will be available in the New Year.  If you are considering joining us in September for any number of days during the 4th to 11th please send an email to woodspring.ramblers@tesco.net
