Welcome to LEGS EXPLORE
(the new name for the Family Countryside Walkers)

LEGS EXPLORE is a special group of Somerset Area Ramblers' Association. It aims to offer fun, family friendly countryside adventures. All members of the family are welcome, including grandparents, aunties and uncles. And how about encouraging your friends to come along too? Older people and those recovering from sickness may enjoy the shorter, leisurely walks.
2.5 -3.5 miles are usually covered, suitable for children (walking) of around 3 and upwards. As a guide, each child is given a card and gets a sticker for each walk. 10 stickers and you can claim a prize - let Mary, co-ordinater, know. You can get extra stickers if you bring a friend, come on a Ramblers, special event walk or lead a walk.
Leaders are members/volunteers of the RA. Parents are asked to take care of their children when with LEGS EXPLORE. If bringing children, and you are not the parents or grandparents, please have some confirmation on you that the parents are agreeable to you acting 'in loco parentis' - this is bearing in mind recent Child Protection legislation. We are unable to take unescorted children under 16 years of age.
Walks are free and you do not have to be a member of the RA. But there are many benefits of joining. Not only are you supporting the Ramblers in its charitable aims - of working for ALL walkers but e.g. members are free to walk with any of the hundreds of RA groups in England, Scotland and Wales. Somerset Area has 9 groups.
For fuller details of the programme, or if you want to bring a dog, please phone the leader beforehand. General enquiries to Marian on 01373 474369 or Mary, co-ordinator on 01923 333369.
